The Inki Pinki blog: Inkipinki with an i and not a y...why?

Inkipinki with an eye and not a why

From the outset we liked the combination of the two words 'inki' and 'pinki' because they suggested the simple fact that we were interested in making greeting cards and stationery using the best quality ink and paper available to us with love, attention and even with a bit of joy!
'Inky Pinky Ponky' may have been at the back of our mind but this really wasn't the reason for our choice of name and, even if it had been, the letter 'y' is not so successful when used in a lowercase title (at least that's what we think). Hence, 'Inki Pinki' was the starting point and not 'Inky Pinky'.
We soon discovered the widespread use of inky pinky and were even advised on the importance of establishing a trademark with a unique name. This led to the eventual naming of the company Inkipinkicards Limited.
But leaving this history aside:

Our aim is  to establish an 'inki pinki' brand based on an 'eye for detail' and so this is really why we use an 'i' and not a 'y'!

(Sounds like an after thought...I know!)

By the end of the year we are aiming for inkipinkicards.co.uk to be exclusively devoted to personalised wedding stationery and, as we write, work is underway on baby-at-inki-pinki, kidz-at-inki-pink and art-at-inki-pinki. Here are some of the logos we've been working on:

and one for baby@ inki-pinki

Lastly,  with it being quite difficult ( for some of us...I mean me!) to type in i-n-k-i-p-i-n-k-i-c-a-r-d-s all in one go without making a mistake, the new domain names have an hyphen between the syllables.

Thanks for reading the 'inki pinki  blog'

Why do we call it a Wedding 'Breakfast' ?

Why do we call it Wedding 'Breakfast' ?

extract from Wikipedia:

The name is claimed[3] to have arisen from the fact that in pre-Reformation times the wedding service was usually a Eucharistic Mass and that the bride and bridegroom would therefore have been fasting before the wedding in order to be eligible to receive the sacrament of Holy Communion. After the wedding ceremony was complete, the priest would bless and distribute some wine, cakes, and sweetmeats, which were then handed round to the company, including the bride and groom. This distribution of food and drink was therefore a literal “break fast” for the bride and groom, though others in attendance would not necessarily take Communion and therefore would not necessarily have been fasting. Since usage of the phrase cannot be shown to date back earlier than the first half of the nineteenth century; however, a pre-16th century origin seems unlikely.

"I'll be your everything that you need"

WORDS USED ON A WEDDING INVITATION

Lucy and John chose the words from this song for their wedding invitation; rather nice we thought!

“Truly, Madly, Deeply”

I’ll be your dream, I’ll be your wish I’ll be your fantasy.
I’ll be your hope, I’ll be your love be everything that you need.
I love you more with every breath truly madly deeply do..
I will be strong I will be faithful ‘cause I’m counting on A new beginning.
A reason for living. A deeper meaning.

I want to stand with you on a mountain.
I want to bathe with you in the sea.
I want to lay like this forever.
Until the sky falls down on me

Oh can you see it baby?
You don’t have to close your eyes ‘cause it’s standing right before you.
All that you need will surely come

I’ll be your dream I’ll be your wish I’ll be your fantasy.
I’ll be your hope I’ll be your love be everything that you need.
I’ll love you more with every breath truly madly deeply do

I want to stand with you on a mountain.
I want to bathe with you in the sea.
I want to lay like this forever.
Until the sky falls down on me

Words for a Wedding Gift List

Words for a Wedding Gift List

This is a nice way to ask for money

 Many of you have enquired
For a gift idea to be inspired
So if bringing a gift is your intention
In modesty we would like to mention

We know its not tradition
And it's not the way it's done
But instead of household goods
We would like a bit of fun

So if you'd like to contribute
Towards our Disney honeymoon
Our heartfelt thanks go out to you
With love the bride and groom

Words for Mothering Sunday and Mother's Day

Words for  Mothering Sunday

“God could not be everywhere
and therefore he made mothers.”
A Jewish Proverb

"I wish I could tell you, Mum
how much you mean to me....
But there are no words to say
how much I admire you...
how much I appreciate you...
how much I thank you
for everything you’ve done"

Stationery...spelled with an E not an A!

Stationery that never stands still? If the E is replaced with an A you have 'stationary' meaning...you've got it - not moving, always the same.
So here is a piece of blatant self-promotion for our new website - inkipinkicards - where we aim to place images and text on paper with care so as to make your greeting special, memorable, unexpected, sincere, loving, thankful, informative, noticeable...mmm...reach for the thesaurus, but essentially aiming never to serve up the same old, tired, predictable, meaningless, bland, in all the supermarkets, mass-produced, look at for five seconds, so called 'greetings' cards...Starting to sound a bit passionate...(idea!)
"HERE AT INKIPINKICARDS WE'RE PASSIONATE ABOUT CARDS"
(Thinks again) Is this starting to sound like familiar marketing/ Mission Statement speak? Let's keep to:
Placed on paper...with some care.
